Obituary for Thomas McDermott

MCDERMOTT, Thomas of Medford. April 10, 2017. Beloved son of the late John and Elizabeth McDermott of Roscommon and Glengarriff Ireland. Loving brother of Daniel and his wife Margaret of Medford, Mary Reilly and her late husband Donald of Dedham and Long Island, Maine and the late John McDermott. Beloved uncle to 9 nieces and nephews and 17 great nieces and nephews. Tom grew up on Boston Avenue in Medford, spent 2 years in the Maryknoll Seminary in New York, he received his undergraduate degree from Boston College in Chestnut Hill, MA and his graduate teaching degree from Northeastern University in Boston. He was a long time elementary teacher in Lexington and at St. Raphael’s School in Medford. Tom enjoyed many happy times in Glengarriff, Ireland visiting with cousins and family friends. He also enjoyed his many visits to Long Island, Maine and loved his family gatherings at his 9 nieces and nephew’s homes. Tom will be missed by a wide circle of friends, neighbors and extended family. Funeral from St. Raphael’s Church, High St., Medford on Monday April 17, 2017 at 11 am. Relatives and friends invited to visit with the family in church before the funeral from 10-11 am. Burial in Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
