Condolence: Kathy - I don’t know what compelled me to look for your name online this week… but sadly I found your name in your obituary.

Even though we haven’t been in touch for many, many years, I’ve often thought of you and wondered how you were doing. And what you were doing. If you were happy… and loved. Our lives took us in different directions and our paths did not cross again. I am sad for that.

But I am happy for the memories that remain of our friendship.

I remember drinking gallons of iced tea. And eating egg salad sandwiches. And lunch at Yee Village. I remember getting dressed up on the weekends and dancing the night away at a club. Girls night coloring our hair. Hanging out in the backyard. Going for rides in your car. I remember talking for hours and hours about anything… everything… and nothing at all.

How do you say goodbye to a friend who you haven’t seen in 30 years? How do I explain the ache in my heart knowing that you’re no longer here somewhere on earth? That the possibility of someday being able to reach out and contact you is now gone forever? With sadness and regret.

Rest in peace Kathy… thank you for being my friend.
