Cummings, Doris M. (Hickey) of Cambridge, January 12, 2018. Beloved wife of the late George J. Cummings. Devoted mother of Patricia Connolly, her husband Keith of Hull, Sean Benoit, his wife Christine of Wilmington, and Daniel Benoit of Medford. Loving grandmother of Sean and Colleen Connolly, Brendan, Tim and Connor Benoit, and David Benoit. Sister of the late William P. Hickey Jr., Patricia Newfell, and her surviving husband, Anthony Newfell of Billerica. Aunt of Phillip Newfell of Billerica, Timothy Newfell of Newburyport and Doreen Parent of NH. Doris was always willing to put others first, before her needs. She worked for many years at the Little Sister of the Poor in Somerville. She enjoyed traveling to Florida with her late husband George, and made a couple of trips to Ireland. Doris was fond of her pet cats over the years and she loved to listen to Irish music. But most of all it was her children and grandchildren that brightened her days. Funeral from the Keefe Funeral Home, 2175 Massachusetts Ave. CAMBRIDGE, Thursday January 18th, at 9 AM. Followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. John Church, 2254 Massachusetts Ave. Cambridge at 10 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Wednesday 4-8PM. Services will conclude with burial at Cambridge Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions are to be made in Doris’s name to Little Sisters of the Poor, 186 Highland Ave. Somerville, MA 02143.
