Roland E.  Lachance
Lachance, Roland Eugene at age 84, a longtime resident of Arlington, died peacefully on Monday, February 26, 2018. Born in Cambridge on August 1, 1933, he was the son of the late Ernest and Lydia (Blais) Lachance. He is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Joan (Downing), and his loving children, Andrea Lachance and her husband Bruce Lauber of Ithaca, NY, Mark Lachance and his wife Jackie of Chelmsford, Kathy Femia and her husband Rich of Arlington, and Joanie Tremblay and her husband Steve of Burlington. He is also survived by his grandchildren Ned Lauber, Maggie Lachance, Richie and Joey Femia, Sarah and Allie Lachance, and Zachary, Kendall, Lucien and Caitlyn Tremblay, along with many nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by his siblings Roger and Marcel Lachance and sisters Carmen Colyer and Yolande Campo. Roland grew up in North Cambridge and graduated from Matignon High School in 1950. After earning a bachelors degree from Marist College, he went on to spend 37 years as a teacher with the Cambridge Public Schools, most notably at the M.E. Fitzgerald Elementary School. He was an active member of the Cambridge Teacher’s Association, serving eight terms as the Association’s President. He was a member of l’Association Notre Dame and remained active in the North Cambridge Community throughout his life. Funeral from the Keefe Funeral Home, 2175 Mass Ave, North Cambridge, on Friday at 9 am. A funeral mass will be at Saint Eulalia’s Church, 50 Ridge St., Winchester on Friday at 10 am. Relatives and friends are invited. Visiting hours Thursday at the funeral home from 4-8 pm. Burial is private.
